Irene in the MD Suburbs of DC
As I write this, Irene is still a bit to the south and the weather people keep changing it from a Category 1 Hurricane to a Tropical Storm. Either way, it’s raining like hell and the gusts of wind are a little scary…especially watching the trees sway.
Needless to say, the brunt of the storm is still on the way and when most of us are tucked away in our beds, the rain and wind will be bearing down.
Luckily, the MD Suburbs of Washington, DC are about 130 inland from the ocean (Ocean City, MD has been completely evacuated with no one allowed in) and about 30 mile west of the Chesapeake Bay. Still, my guess is that there will be damage, wet basements and a lot of downed trees. My guess is that there will be a lot of busy contractors in the coming weeks.
I’m not sure how this will pan out with all the insurance companies. Hopefully, all will go well with the homeowner’s in the area.
We don’t see this kind of severe weather too much. Yeah. We had the Snowmageddon of 2010 with several large snowfalls but this is a horse of a different color.
Fingers crossed.
