A Recommendation – The Dental Group in Riverdale, MD
I’ve been going to The Dental Group in Riverdale, MD (about a mile south from College Park, MD on RT 1) for awhile. Mostly the normal stuff like getting my teeth cleaned and the occasional cavity. In recent years, though, my teeth have been needing more complicated procedures and intensive care. I really didn’t like the idea but I went along with a couple of root canals and a couple of crowns. I always used to dread the visits.
Recently, one of the teeth that had a root canal developed an infection and the recommendation was for and extraction. I had a pretty in depth consultation about what that would mean — both for the short term procedure and long term dental health. Tony DiGregorio,DDS was a friend before he became my dentist and when I asked him about sedation dentistry he was able to explain it in great detail.
Long story short. I decided to go for the sedation dentistry for the tooth extraction and it worked like a charm. They call it “conscious sedation”. It involves taking a couple of pills the night before the visit and a couple of pills the morning of the visit. No big deal. The only downside is that you really need to take the day off and you need someone to drive you back and forth. Believe me, you’re zonked out. However, you don’t feel the procedure and, after it’s all over, you hardly even know you were there.
So. The Dental Group is great for all your dental needs and it’s spectacular for this new fangled sedation dentistry. They’ve also jumped into the 21st Century with e-mail confirmation of appointments and text confirmations. Hip and cool.
It almost makes going to the dentist fun. Almost.
