One of the great things about the College Park Woods community is the availability of a great community swim club.  The Club has a great building for meetings and events and a wonderful outdoor pool.

Of course, in order to cover the  overhear (maintaining the building, maintaining the pool) the College Park Swim Club offers yearly memberships and they also hold great FUNdraisers throughout the year.  I got involved a few months ago at one of their spaghetti dinners.  This month I joined a lot of the College Park Woods neighbors and friends at Franklin’s Restaurant & General Store.

Franklin’s has become a local hot spot located in the new “Renaissance” District of Hyattsville, MD along the RT 1 corridor.  They make their own microbrews, serve great food and have a wonderful family-oriented ambiance. There’s even a quirky General Store attached to the restaurant where you can find all kinds of hard-to-find items along with great beer and wine.

The FUNdraising for the College Park Woods Swim Club

Franklin’s has this great FUNdraising idea. They’ll donate a portion of their profits to your group.  So the organizers of the College Park Woods Swim Club came up with the great idea to invite people out to Franklin’s for a good time.  All you had to do is show up and order whatever you wanted.  How easy is that?

My wife, Jan, and I decided to show up for dinner and ran into a bunch of other folks from College Park Woods. It was great food and it was a lot of fun chatting with the folks who came out!
